MAITLAND Public School pupils will exhibit their artworks with some of the country's finest cartoonists when the Norman Lindsay Cartoon Awards exhibition opens at Brough House today.

Creative arts teacher Lyndal Edge said pupils were studying Lindsay's book The Magic Pudding, which he illustrated.

The Maitland exhibition includes Herald cartoonist Peter Lewis.

Lewis, who has worked at the newspaper for 20 years, will be guest speaker at the exhibition at 2pm.

He will draw as he talks.

Lewis said he was drawn to the cartoon exhibition because he had had a keen interest in the work of Norman Lindsay for many years.

The exhibition will run until September 30.

Entry prices are $5 or $4 concession, which includes a tour of neighbouring Grossmann House.
