NEWSPAPERS, advertising, CD covers and greeting cards are all opportunities ready and waiting for amateur cartoonists.
According to Australian College of Journalism registrar Rachel Moerman, there are plenty of chances for amateur cartoonists to sell their work, if they have the right training.
The College is now offering a cartoonist's and illustrator's correspondence course allowing people aged over 16 to study from home.
The 12 week program is structured around a tutorial each week.
Each applicant is allocated a long-distance tutor.
Ms Moerman said people who complete the course did not have to be expert cartoonists.
`The course is designed for someone who hasn't done that much drawing in the past and who doesn't have formal training,' Ms Moerman said.
`It aims to teach participants basic skills in cartooning.'
